How to use the basic calculator

Type or tap a calculation such as 48 + 12 × 3 and press Enter or the equals key. Standard order of operations applies, so multiplication and division are worked out before addition and subtraction, and brackets are respected: (48 + 12) × 3 = 180.

Percentages

The percent key divides by 100, so 250 × 20% gives 50 — twenty percent of 250. To add tax, use 250 + 250 × 8%.

Division by zero

Dividing by zero has no numeric answer. Instead of showing a broken value, the calculator tells you the calculation is undefined and keeps your input so you can correct it.
