How image extraction works

A PDF stores photos and logos as separate image objects that pages reference. This tool walks through every page, collects those objects, decodes them and saves each one as a PNG file at its original pixel size — nothing is re-rendered or upscaled.

When nothing is found

Documents produced from word processors or LaTeX often contain only text and vector shapes, so there are genuinely no images to extract. Scanned documents, on the other hand, usually contain one large image per page. Very small images such as bullet icons are skipped.

Resolution

Each extracted file keeps the resolution stored in the PDF, which is often higher than the size it appears on the page.
