How it works

Removes zero-width spaces/joiners, byte-order marks, soft hyphens and bidirectional control marks. Visible text is untouched. Zero-width joiners inside emoji sequences are also removed, which can split combined emoji.

Worked example

This sample contains a zero-width space between user and name and a trailing byte-order mark. Removing hidden characters can repair copied identifiers, but it also removes joiners and direction marks needed by some scripts and combined emoji. Keep a copy of the original.
