Frequently asked questions
Which quantities are scaled?
Every number in each line, including decimals, fractions like 1/2 or 1 1/4, and typographic fractions such as ½. Ingredient names and units are left untouched.
Why do results show fractions?
Kitchen measurements are easier to read as fractions, so results snap to common cup and spoon fractions when they are close enough, and fall back to decimals otherwise.
Should I scale cooking times too?
No. Baking times, pan sizes and oven temperatures do not scale linearly with ingredients — adjust those by judgement.
Is my recipe uploaded?
No. Scaling happens entirely in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.
